Course Descriptions

Attend In-Person or Online

Courses at Reach College are 3 credit hours and are structured to be completed in 8 weeks (though you may request an extension and complete any course in 15 weeks). Drawing from practical experience in various ministry contexts, our courses are structured to be academically challenging and practically-oriented to help you fulfill the Great Commission. We have organized the courses into four simple categories: 1) Bible. 2) Theology. 3) Apologetics. 4) Ministry Leadership. In addition, you will have the opportunity to enroll in practicum courses that provide excellent practical ministry experience.

Bible Courses

BIB202: Old Testament Survey 1 (Online Only)

A fully online and self-paced course covering Old Testament Law and History books (Genesis-Esther), you will learn the background of each book, its core theological themes, and how its contents point to Jesus.

BIB204: Old Testament Survey 2 (Online Only)

A fully online and self-paced course covering Old Testament Poetry and Prophecy books (Job-Malachi), you will learn the background of each book, its core theological themes, and how its contents point to Jesus.

BIB206: New Testament Survey 1 (Online Only)

A fully online and self-paced course covering the Gospels and Acts, you will learn how each Gospel uniquely presents Jesus as Messiah, and how the Holy Spirit advanced the Gospel through faithful witnesses in Acts.

BIB208: New Testament Survey 2 (Online Only)

A fully online and self-paced course covering the Epistles and Revelation, you will understand how each letter equips Christians to doctrinally and practically live as disciples of Jesus in daily life.

BIB210: Genesis

Genesis is core to an accurate understanding of the Bible, especially God’s plan of redemption through Jesus and His plan with Israel. You will study the covenants, main characters, and theological themes.

 

BIB225: Psalms

God created us as emotional beings who are called to worship Him with our whole hearts. Learn how Psalms is organized, grasp its theological themes, and understand how it enhances devotional time with God.

 

BIB255: Gospel of John

John presents Jesus as the Eternal Word who became flesh. Through seven “signs” and discourses he unveils the character and nature of Jesus. Unpack the main theological themes and how “signs” fuel faith.

Theology and Apologetics Courses

TH210: Bible Study Methods

Our goal is not only to read the Bible, but also to correctly understand and apply the Bible to daily life. Bible Study Methods (Hermeneutics) will provide you with tools to accurately understand and apply the Bible.

TH305: Bible Doctrines

The Christian Faith is built on a solid foundation of good doctrine. Know the core doctrines of Christianity,  understand the relationship between faith and reason, and learn how to accurately articulate your faith.

AP205: Intro to Apologetics

Apologetics means “defending the faith.” We have a faith that is both true and satisfying. You will learn the evidence in support of the Christian faith and how to build a bridge in order to effectively share your faith.

AP215: Biblical Worldview

A worldview is the lens a person uses to answer life’s big questions. Learn how a Biblical worldview best answer’s life’s hardest questions, and explains the human disposition toward hope for something better.

AP225: Christian Ethics

When societies lack moral clarity, ethics becomes increasingly vital. Contrast Christian ethics with other ethical systems and learn how our faith provides an ethical framework for navigating the hardest issues.

AP305: Cultural Apologetics

Western culture is rapidly shedding Judeo-Christian values. Grasp the hardest questions Christianity faces. Learn how to lovingly explain why the Christian faith provides answers to culture’s hardest questions.

 

Ministry Leadership Courses

MIN215: Intro to Servant Leadership

Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. He also led people into a life of grace and truth. Discover the Biblical principles of servanthood, of leadership, and how to incorporate servant leadership into your life.

MIN220: Leading Small Groups

Jesus invested in small groups of people who in turn invested in others and made disciples. Learn practical insights in how to start, host, or lead small groups, and practical tools to navigate challenges that will arise.

MIN225: Building Ministry Teams

Christians flourish in community and when each person serves according to their spiritual gifts. Learn how to develop ministry teams, define ministry goals, and effectively lead ministry outreaches and events.

MIN310: Intro to Biblical Counseling

Biblical counseling is one-on-one care discipleship and is vital for effective ministry. Learn the theology of Biblical counseling, the goals, and how to lead those who are hurting to a place of spiritual maturity.
